Prof. Ahmed Alaskar is a distinguished physician-scientist and executive leader in biomedical research with more than two decades of service at the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), one of the largest biomedical research institutions in Saudi Arabia. His leadership has been pivotal in advancing translational and clinical research, intellectual property development, and the national biotechnology strategy.

He has played a central role in building Saudi Arabia’s biotechnology infrastructure, leading pioneering programs in oncology, stem cell transplantation, and cellular therapy. His initiatives include the establishment of the KAIMRC Biotechnology Park, the Saudi Biobank, the National Cord Blood Bank, the Saudi Stem Cell Donor Registry, and the Cellular Therapy Program, all considered national benchmarks in healthcare innovation.

As President of the Saudi Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (SSBMT), Prof. Alaskar has significantly shaped the field of hematology in the region. He was instrumental in creating the hematology fellowship training program in Saudi Arabia, reflecting his commitment to medical education and professional development. Through his mentorship and vision, he has guided numerous medical professionals and contributed valuable expertise to the global medical community.
